We offer language training aids on CD based on the proven Foreign Service Institute language teaching methodology.
The Foreign Service Institute is an arm of the U.S. Department of State. It designed and assembled a training method for teaching language skills to individuals destined for overseas deployment in the 1950's and 1960's. The aim of the course was to enable the student to work in a professional environment in the target language.
The courses were developed for a class room setting with professional teachers and tutors. As a study aid for the students, audio drills were recorded on tape in the fifties and sixties. These original drills are still in use today as the program is highly valued. The FSI taped drills taken alone are by far the most complete self-help tool for gaining proficient foreign language conversational skills - no other system can pretend to come close.
The newly created program we offer builds upon this solid foundation with some important changes:
Making these changes dramatically enhances the quality of the FSI method. The original course was a stroke of genius, yet executed with the state of recording technology of their time, the language of their day and utilizing vocabulary singular to embassy officers. Furthermore, access to a tutor was assumed to clarify material. Our efforts are geared to modernize a brilliant teaching method, make it more appropriate for a broader target group, lift the audio to today's standard and eliminate the requirement for a tutor.
The ease of learning a language corresponds directly to the ability to clearly hear the spoken language. Our new CD quality voice recording removes the audio dificiencies in the 1950's recording (ringing and reverb). Below are two audio samples:

The French I Course is offered only through ebay. Search for "modern fsi french language course". Our course covers the same material as the original French Course Units 01 - 06. The original full course has 24 units. We will be updating material paralleling all 24 units soon.
